Here's a shot of Jason's shop where most of the fabrication work will happen. As you can see the cab is already removed and the frame is being stripped. New leaf springs have been ordered and after the cab's roof is cut it will be headed off to have the paint and filler removed from the body.
There's no turning back now. It won't take long to make this cab topless. Jason plans on adding some protection to the sharp edges to prevent accidents and provide a little support for the body panels. Maybe slit a piece of metal tubing and fasten to the edges.
Here's a view from the back of the cab. Jason's Tour Jeep ran with a full cab in the rear which made for a stronger body.
The front panel where the defroster ducts run suffered from a litte rust so the area is being cut out and new metal installed.
Here's a picture of the new FC convertible.
As was stated in the “Rescue” portion of Jason’s journal his Tour Jeep bed was constructed from the old FC’s pickup bed. Although it had survived many an off-road adventure it was deemed that it could and should have been done better. The plan is to construct a new platform bed and make the roll cage assembly removable for better access and to make it easier to paint the individual components before assembly. The first task was to cut the roll cage loose from the bed.

The new platform is constructed out of tread plate and 2" square tubing.
