Here we are at our first break heading up Corkscrew. The lower section of the trail is clay so it's not the best to go down during rainy times. Fortunately the rain held off this morning and we made it up without any difficulties.
Once you clear the first stretch the area becomes a little rocky and easier to climb.
A little view of the Red Mountain.
At this point were about half way up to the gulch.
The view really starts to show from here on up.
A little more water than we were used to but is didn't prove to be any problems.
We had to run the creek at bit to continue on.
I'd hate to be doing this after a heavy rain!
A little snow left here at the lower elevation.
We stopped at the gulch because we had heard that Hurricane Pass was still closed but after a few came down the pass and told us it had just recently opened we were ready to try it. Upon hearing this my wife broke down had her fear of heights got the best of her. After resting for lunch we decided that we wouldn't put her through any more fears for the day and retreated back to the highway. Reminder next time, don't forget her blindfold!
A beautiful backdrop for a picture!
