Million Dollar Highway into Ouray
Day two started out in question weatherwise. We took off without ponchos determined to do some wheeling. We took Hwy. 500 to the head of Corkscrew gulch and made our way to Hurricane pass and Silverton.
Corkscrew starts out in some heavy fir and alpine along the trail. This made my wife happy as we couldn't fall off the trail too far. This soon changed.
At this point we were staying just ahead of the dark clouds that were building behind us.
At this point we weren't sure that we were going to be able to out run the rain. So we didn't stay at the Pass too long. It gets a little windy up there too!
I wish we had a little more sun as the pictures don't do this area any justice! Man, it is breathtaking out here!
You know I had to ruin the view with an old Jeep! We're following the blue sky all the way to Silverton.
If this didn't add to my wife's fear of heights. I tried to convince her that it was run over and didn't fall off a cliff, but she didn't seem to believe me.
