Our last day of wheeling turned out to be the best weather yet. We even decided to bring our dog Sammi along. She was a little freaked out at first, but turned into a real pro by days end. Here we are filling up at $4.75 a gallon!
We decided to head up to Governors basin as it is one of our favorite spots. On the way we met up with Greg Pieper who was giving a tour up to Yankee Boy Basin. We tagged along with them until the turnoff for Governors. He was so excited to have us along with him that I think it was the highlight of his tour season.
This is one of the famous shots that has been taken over the generations of tour jeep riders. I was a little chicken to get and closer to the edge!
Man, does this place make you feel small or what?
When we broke off with Greg and his tour group we started the accent to the basins. This is one of the streams you cross on the way up.
Now there's a calendar picture for you! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
This is where the trail starts to get skinny and rough. After Imogene my wife decided to walk up this part!
Once you start to climb the view becomes a 360 degree show! This is looking back towards Ouray and Governors Revenue mine is at the bottom of the mountain.
This view is looking towards Yankee Boy. WOW!!!
Here's the midpoint after the skinny climb up the mountain. And another great picture place to boot!
Here we are at Sydney Basin. Governors Basin is on the other side of this Mountain. This is one of our favorite spots along with American Basin. The bugs were really bad this year. I guess the wet weather brought them out.
We were a little early on the wild flower blooms, but it was still an awesome site!
I'm not sure what this is called, but it sure takes your breath away!
