Here's an interesting letter in response to Noble & Dean reaching out for assistance on their journey. Looks like the corporate guys were interested in what they were about to partake in.

Still in the Factory Wrapper! Must have been the one Willys sent them for the trip.

.

This is the main storage compartment. Probably 300 pounds of broken or destroyed parts inside. I guess they saved them for the absolute worst case senarios.

These cans were found in the back of the truck. The 2 oil cans were never opened, but oil must have seeped out of them over the past 65 years, as they were empty. Bardahl was one of their sponsors. Bardahl’s name was painted on the back of the truck in acknowledgment.

Pictured above are some of the more interesting things that were recovered from the back of the Around the World truck.  There’s an interesting side story from the book about a couple of the items that weren’t found.  In the book it mentions that when they were in Nairobi Africa, they were getting concerned about the weight of the vehicle & the ongoing problems from the truck being overloaded.  There were also money concerns, so Noble jumped into action. He found buyers for the portable gas Generator & their Ampex Tape Recorder.  There are lots of great stories in the book! Be sure to find a copy if you can…
