Here’s the first “In person” sighting of Dan’s M-677. Dan had been looking for a 677 for a while and I told him about this one in Louisville, Kentucky. Dan and the owner made the deal over the phone and I agreed to go and pick it up for him and keep it at my place until he could come down and get it. I had talked my wife into going on a “Second Honeymoon” in the Smoky Mountains but things thickened up a bit when she asked why we were taking the trailer along with us on our special trip, but that’s a whole story in itself. Bottom line, I picked up Dan’s truck and still stayed married!
The truck’s last life before Dan bought it was as a servant of the Civil Defense Department. Although it was complete, rust was a definite issue along with tons and tons of white paint. It was on EVERYTHING!!!
Here's a rear view of the truck.
Here's Dan finally home with his new treasure. Now the true assessment and "hands on" work begins.
Here's a shot of the dash. As I stated earlier, they didn't miss much when they hosed it down with the white paint. Too bad they didn't bother to wash it first!
Yes it was complete, but boy was there a lot of work to do!
Rear view with a shot of the air cleaner right in the back seat. It probably was put there to combat the noise of the diesel motor.
The 3-cylinder Cerlist engine.
